Men have it made. Unlike women, they usually do not worry about matching their shoes to anything- purses, belts, clothing, or jewelry. In fact, most men probably have fewer pairs of shoes than they can count on two hands and with good reason. After all, the only three pairs of shoes that a man truly needs are a single pair of dress shoes, one pair of athletic shoes, and a pair of sandals.
Manufacturers know this and have for a very long time. Haven’t you ever wondered why women’s shoes are available in almost every color under the sun and men’s shoes typically come in basic black, boring brown, and questionable white? Okay, that’s keeping it simple and eliminating a few of the choices, but it happens to be a relatively accurate statement, although today’s man can select from among several different shades of brown.
Basic colors go with anything. Therefore, if you purchase a pair of shoes in a basic color, you should be set for life- the life of the pair of shoes, that is. Once you find a brand of shoes that fits well and wears well, stick with that brand. Likewise, once you find a store that sells that particular brand of shoes, remember it.
One of the most important pairs of shoes that a man can own is a pair of dress shoes. A good pair of dress shoes can be used for work and work-related events. Additionally, dress shoes are acceptable for most social events including special occasions. A nice, comfortable pair of dress shoes can even be worn to class, for shopping excursions, or for traveling. In fact, if you are looking for a job and going on an interview, dress shoes can make a nice statement.
Sandals are a necessary part of a man’s footwear arsenal, as well. They are easy to put on, don’t require any socks which is an added bonus, especially if you are a single guy who does not look forward to doing laundry, and they dry quickly in most cases. In fact, sandals are great to wear in between outings, since they require such little maintenance. Picnics, casual events, outdoor functions and more are perfect occasions to bring out your sandals.
The ever-popular pair of sneakers is definitely an integral part of a man’s wardrobe. Comfortable and quite often preferred to any other type of shoe, sneakers are a must have. Men of all ages wear sneakers today, compared to the few who wore them in the past.
Sneakers allow men to jump hoops, race along footpaths, and dodge annoyances. In fact, they even allow men to do all of this in comfort. Sneakers can provide support. They can be worn to almost any social occasion except the elite or upscale. Sneakers can also be worn for some types of employment, for classes, for traveling, and even for nothing special at all.
One of the most important things a man needs to do for his shoes is to take good care of them. For some men, this may mean simply bringing them in from out of the rain. For others, it may require cleaning, polishing, and freshening. At the very least, a man should remember where it is he has last placed his shoes, so that he can wear them once more.
